And you thought the Democratic presidential primary was the hot item on March 4th! Burlington voters face a couple of competing ballot items on Tuesday regarding the hotly debated future of the Moran Plant site on Burlington’s waterfront. Last week, we pointed to one Burlington blogger who opposes the city’s renovation proposal and several differing opinions appeared in the comments of that post.
Below is a rundown of some online Moran Plant-related items. If you’re a Burlington resident and you’re unsure how you will vote on these questions on Tuesday, use this as a guide to all the ins and outs of the issue…
- Read the official CEDO proposal (PDF) (ballot question #1)
- Read the city’s FAQ page on the project
- Here is the “Smart Demolition” proposal (ballot question #2)
- Here’s Ken Picard’s piece in Seven Days about the issue
- Watch a televised debate that aired on channel 17 on the Moran Plant ballot items (YouTube - 6 parts)
- Listen to a CCTV-produced Moran Plant debate (mp3, 27.1 MB, 59:17)
- Check out the anti-city plan letters to the Free Press that Blazing Indiscretions has posted
- Here is Burlington Libertarian Blogger Jeremy Ryan’s post on the Moran question (previously linked from Exit Voices)
- Here is video of The Ice Factor’s presentation to the Burlington Business Association (via She’s Right)
- City Counselor Joan Shannon’s pro-city plan argument (posted to Front Porch Forum, via She’s Right)
I work for PriceGrabber.com, an online comparison shopping site, and thought that with primary season coming to Vermont, readers might enjoy our brand new Election Guide. The idea behind the guide is to allow our customers to “shop” for a candidate by comparing them on the issues. One of the main features of the site is a Candidate Match survey, in which voters choose their stances on the issues, and PriceGrabber matches the candidate that best represents the voters’ views.
